Happy New Year lovely readers! We are so excited to be back after the Holiday break and we have a super exciting interview to share with you to kick off 2016! Welcome Jackie Reisenauer, the beauty and brains behind Munster Rose. Lets get to the interview.
ST: Tell us a little about yourself, your business, and your background.
JR: I’m a designer, florist, and new mom married to a super-supportive man. I’ve been in the floral and design worlds for 13 years and launched Munster Rose five years ago.
Munster Rose had humble beginnings as a special events floral studio that me and my amazing mom ran out of my home.
We’ve grown since then! We moved out of the house and into a proper studio space. Now, in addition to floral and events, we have a size-able team doing commercial styling, event design, workshops and mentoring. Oh, and we just launched a webshop.
ST: You have an adorable 11 month old, own your own business, then of course run that business, and teach workshops and mentor future florists. How do you do it all?
JR: Oh my god with so much help! Thankfully, Munster Rose is bigger than just me. We have two full-time lead designers, an intern, plus a huge on-call department that helps with deliveries. I’m going to mention again my super-supportive husband.
ST: When did you fall in love with flowers?
JR: When I was 15, I planted a huge perennial garden in my backyard with my dad’s help. Immediately after that I got a job at my local floral shop. Fast-forward 20 years and here I am!
ST: What is your dream project?
JR: It used to be working with Martha Stewart Weddings. But I can happily say I crossed that off my bucket list last year! Now my dream project would be working on a national ad campaign for a fashion designer. You know, one of those amazing floral installations you see behind a name-brand designer in Vogue? Whenever I see an ad like that I say to myself, “I want that to be a Munster Rose installation!”
ST: Whose work inspires you?
JR: I’m inspired by so many florists, photographers, and designers. Canary Grey, a photographer, is one of my favorites – both professionally and personally. I also love everything local designer Martha W. McQuade does. Nationally, I look to Saipua in NYC, and Yasmine Mei in CA. I could go on and on and on….
ST: Thank you so much Jackie! It was a pleasure! To see more from Jackie (and her lovely team) you can find her here: website, blog, insta, pinterest.
